Online Safety - Co-op Academy Woodlands

Online Safety

Technology and the Internet can be fantastic resources – they can help our children to learn, create, communicate, and have fun. Increasing provision of the Internet in and out of schools brings with it the need to ensure that learners are safe and have the necessary knowledge, skills and understanding to successfully navigate the online world.

Unfortunately, though, there are times when Internet use can have a negative effect on children. Children may have to deal with a variety of challenging issues such as

  • Cyberbullying
  • Fake news and misinformation
  • Inappropriate Content
  • Online Grooming
  • Radicalisation
  • Screen Time
  • Privacy and Identity theft, etc.

At the Meadows School our main priority is our student’s safety, not only physically, but online to. In school we monitor the devices, filter the content, and use technology to transform teaching and learning in a safe way.  At home similar kinds of monitoring and filtering can be achieved.

At least once a year parents are invited to a parent’s workshop which allow parents to get an insight of potential online dangers as well as how to protect children and teach them how to stay safe.
