Safeguarding

The Meadows School is committed to safeguarding all of our children and promoting their welfare. We take our responsibility very seriously and we expect all staff, volunteers and visitors to share this common commitment. Our priority is to ensure our school remains a safe place for children, staff and all other members of our school community.

We have a number of policies and procedures in place that contribute to our safeguarding commitment, including our Child Protection and Safeguarding Policy, which can also be viewed in the Policies section of our website or is available on request.

There may be times when we need to call the Multi Agency Safeguarding Hub (MASH) to ask for advice or even make a referral about a child. We ask that you respect our professionalism should we need to do this; in some cases, we may need to do this without seeking parental involvement to help ensure the safety and well-being of a child.

The school follows the Multi Agency Thresholds Guidance: Continuum of Help & Support in keeping children safe.

If you have any concerns about the safety or welfare of a child or young person please do not hesitate to talk to a member of the Designated Safeguarding Team:

Description automatically generated

As a Sandwell School we are part of Operation Encompass which is a Police and Education early intervention safeguarding partnership that supports children and young people exposed to Domestic Abuse.  It aims to ensure Schools are notified in a timely manner of any Domestic Abuse incident where children are present or registered at the address.

If you or anyone you know is affected by domestic abuse, you can seek help through the school or through Black Country Women’s aid who can be reached on 0121 553 0090 or through their website.

(Please note: Despite the name, BCWA also works with and supports men, boys and non-binary people).

More information about Operation Encompass can be found at https://www.operationencompass.org/
